This was often a rocky road and for Trev Deeley it was often a painful one.
His autobiography Deeley Motorcycle Millionaire by Frank Hillard points out that Fred Deeleys success came in spite of a neglected childhood, a precarious relationship with a tyrannical father, and a good deal of personal tragedy.

My personal interaction with Trev Deeley was racing, he believed that what won on Sunday Sold in Monday.
He was a winner on the track racing Harley Davidson where his #22 was constantly on the podium and when he retired from racing his track activities turned sponsorship. His race teams produced multiple Canadian Champions and a World Champion with Steve Baker. Steve was the first American to win a World Championship the Formula Series in on a Bob Work prepared Yamaha Canada TZ .
Baker was also a leading rider in the cc Grand Prix Series that season, finishing second to Barry Sheen.
Bob Work and Trev helped me out in when I was working on Frankie Juhans Yamahas with moral and technical support.
While there focus was on Harley Davidson Fred Deeley were the the first real motorcycle superstore selling Triumph, BSA, Norton and Ariel. Trev Deeley believed that the only way to make any real money in the motorcycle business was to be the distributer and he did just that by becoming the first distributer in North America for Honda , and the the National Distributer for Yamaha and then what became the crowning achievement as the Canadian Distributer for Harley Davidson.
In the Deeley Exhibition and Museum on Boundary Road in Vancouver you can see much of this history and be introduced to those at Trev Deeley Harley Davidson that are charged with carrying the flag today.
