Edward Daly served as the Bishop of Derry from to ^[1] when he retired at the age of 59 after suffering a stroke.

After retirement, he continued his service as the Derry diocese's archivist, and as a hospice chaplain.^[2].

He studied at St Columb's College in Derry before going to the Irish College in Rome to prepare for the priesthood.
